Ignacio Orozco

"We arrived to Cal Poly on Sunday as individual from all corners of California. Some of us a bit weary of what to expect, if we could make new friends, keep up with the college pace, and if we could survive without our mother's home cooking. By the end of the week, we made tons of friends, had great food on campus (ok some of it was not that great), but most importantly we became Familia. A Familia with common dreams and aspirations, love for our cultura, and people we could depend on in times of need. I could not have asked for a better experience."

"OUR was a great experience! It was fun, everybody was so nice, and the leaders made sure everyone was welcome and having a good time. Considering how much cheaper it is to WOW, OUR had just as much, if not more activities! I had an awesome time participating in OUR."

Bryan Cervantes

"OUR is a great way to get to know Cal Poly. It introduces you to so many new people and makes you feel right at home. I met some of my good friends I have right now during OUR."

Claudia Mendoza

"OUR was a great way to transition into college. It helped me form new friendships right before school started, which meant I always saw a friendly face on campus during my first year. Not only did I have a great time, but I also formed a group of friends who aren't only there to help me academically, but are also there to help me through the social aspect of college. I'm happy to say that I met some awesome people during that eventful week. It's great to meet people with your similar goals and culture; it truly makes Cal Poly a home away from home, with a whole new familia. :) "

"My name is David Rodriguez, and I am a Political Science major with a concentration in Global Politics. I was an Ouree in 2009, and I can assure you that it was the best way to spend my first week at Cal Poly. O.U.R. provides a variety of fun activities to do, in addition to allowing new students to form bonds and long-lasting friendships with the other Ourees and O.U.R. leaders. Through O.U.R. I had an opportunity to meet new people, learn about new cultures, and had an amazing time that rid me of all the anxiety an incoming freshman has. Not to mention, the food was absolutely amazing. I recommend you choose O.U.R. as your welcoming Cal Poly experience, you will not regret it."

Gustavo Murillo

"I get homesick a lot, and there are very few ways to help forget the pain. College was the first time I was away from my family and adjusting to the new life was very difficult. After I heard about OUR, I was interested because I would feel comfortable being surrounded by people with similar backgrounds as mine. After attending OUR, it helped ease the transition to college and for that reason I am glad and thankful I did OUR."
